The first phase of the 137th China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair), themed “Advanced Manufacturing”, came to a successful conclusion on April 19. According to data released by the organizer, China Foreign Trade Center, as of the closing day, 148,585 overseas buyers from 216 countries and regions around the world had attended the fair, an increase of 20.2% over the same period last year. This significant growth not only demonstrates the continued appeal of Made in China in the global market, but also highlights the key role of the Canton Fair as a “barometer” and “weather vane” of China’s foreign trade.
In the home appliance exhibition area of this Canton Fair, the deep integration of “technology + life” has become the biggest highlight. China Business News reporters interviewed Midea Group, Skyworth Group, TCL Industrial, Galanz and Vanward Electric and other exhibitors, and learned that a large number of smart home appliances integrating cutting-edge technologies were unveiled, building a more intelligent, convenient and green life picture. These home appliances with both scenario-based and intelligent features not only demonstrate the leap forward of Chinese enterprises in technological innovation and product design, but also vividly interpret the solid pace of China’s manufacturing to accelerate the transformation to “China’s smart manufacturing”.
Faced with the current uncertainties such as the slow global economic recovery and rising geopolitical risks, Chinese manufacturing enterprises still show strong resilience and vitality. This Canton Fair attracted more than 30,000 Chinese companies to participate in the exhibition, covering multiple advanced manufacturing fields, among which the smart home appliance sector is particularly eye-catching. Through green, intelligent and scenario-based products and solutions, enterprises continue to enhance their brand influence and international competitiveness, and show global buyers a new image of China’s manufacturing from “product output” to “technology leadership” and “ecological empowerment”.
The wave of intelligent home appliances sweeps the Canton Fair
In recent years, intelligence has not only become a new highlight to promote China’s foreign trade growth, but also an important direction for the transformation and upgrading of many enterprises. In the home appliance exhibition area of the 136th Canton Fair, from AI air conditioners to AI TVs, a series of home appliances integrating artificial intelligence technology were unveiled, showing the world a smarter, more comfortable and greener future lifestyle. These products are not only the embodiment of technological progress, but also represent the new stage of China’s manufacturing moving from “function-driven” to “experience-driven”.
Midea Group presented its latest achievements in intelligent and green ecological transformation at this exhibition. Relevant person in charge introduced that, focusing on the technological trends of AI intelligence and smart home, Midea’s household air conditioners not only demonstrated its continuous breakthroughs in the field of single product intelligence, but also strengthened its comprehensive competitiveness in the global market by building a full-scenario ecosystem. Especially in terms of energy saving and environmental protection, Midea focuses on intelligent energy-saving technology, customizes and develops series of products according to the climate and usage needs of different countries, and accelerates the localization layout of the global market.
Skyworth focuses on multi-dimensional breakthroughs in display technology. At its booth, products ranging from 32 inches to 110 inches fully cover a variety of display technologies such as Mini LED, QLED, OLED, etc., showing its continuous evolution in the aesthetic design, picture quality performance and intelligent functions of TV products. In order to meet diversified overseas needs, Skyworth also brought differentiated products such as Wallpaper TV P8E and Musician TV G6E Pro. At the same time, its smart office and smart teaching all-in-one series products also provide efficient and intelligent one-stop solutions for government, enterprises, education, new retail and other industries, helping the digitalization and intelligent upgrading of traditional scenarios.
TCL Industrial also brought a series of innovative achievements. The smart home appliances it exhibited covered multiple categories of products such as air conditioners, refrigerators, washing machines, Thunderbird AR glasses and lighting, building a multi-dimensional smart life ecosystem. At the exhibition, the 2025 flagship new product-Little Blue Wing C7 fresh air air conditioner became the focus of attention. The product integrates AI algorithms and millimeter wave radar technology, and has the ability to accurately identify the user’s sleep state, thereby realizing active temperature control and scientific temperature change. In particular, its AI purification system not only improves air quality, but also improves the overall home health experience.
Kitchen appliance companies accelerate overseas expansion through innovation
At this Canton Fair, in addition to the attention paid to home appliance companies, kitchen appliance companies also demonstrated strong innovation and international expansion ambitions. As important players in the field of kitchen appliances, Galanz and Vanward Electric have brought their green, efficient and intelligent product lineups to meet the diverse needs of the global market for sustainable consumption and personalized experience.
Galanz exhibited a wide range of green home appliances, ranging from kitchen appliances such as microwave ovens, electric steamers, electric ovens, dishwashers, large appliances such as refrigerators, washing machines, water heaters, to small appliances such as induction cookers, air fryers, coffee machines, and wall breakers. Whether it is cooking, eating or home life, these products are building multi-dimensional consumption scenarios, reflecting a deep understanding of the integrated lifestyle. At the same time, Galanz also provides large-scale customization services to meet the diverse needs of consumers in different countries and regions for green and personalized consumption, demonstrating the increasing product integration capabilities and global service levels of Chinese kitchen appliance companies.
In contrast, Vanward Electric demonstrated its technical accumulation and green transformation results in hot water and heating systems to the global market through technological innovation. Among them, the full range of heat pump water heaters using natural refrigerant propane (R290) became the highlight of its exhibits. This refrigerant has a global warming potential (GWP) of only 3, and is one of the refrigerants with the lowest carbon emissions. It has obvious advantages in the context of increasingly stringent environmental standards. With the control system independently developed by Vanward, the product not only realizes intelligent functions such as remote control, energy consumption monitoring and fault diagnosis, but also reaches the EU energy efficiency level A+, with a COP value close to 3.2, which is at the forefront of the industry.
In addition, Vanward also brought a whole-house heating and hot water parallel system, which supports multiple wall-mounted boilers to operate in parallel, realize multi-regional partition control, and adapt to a variety of application scenarios through six operating modes. This system, combined with mobile phone App operation, is particularly suitable for cold climate countries such as Eastern Europe, and has become an important weapon for Vanward to enter these regional markets.
While product technology continues to upgrade, the pace of enterprises’ “going overseas” has also significantly accelerated. With the long-term trend of Sino-US trade frictions, many Chinese home appliance and kitchen appliance companies have accelerated their market reach to countries along the “Belt and Road”, and the Canton Fair has become an important platform for them to connect with overseas customers and open up new markets.
Galanz is particularly active in the Latin American market. Since the beginning of this year, its multiple business teams have successively gone to Brazil, Mexico and other regions, not only to conduct in-depth communication with local partners, but also to bring back a lot of good news about deepening cooperation. In these markets where there is already a stable cooperation foundation, customers have expanded the scale of purchases of microwave ovens, and at the same time have shown a strong interest in and willingness to cooperate with Galanz’s large household appliances. In the future, they will also organize a delegation to visit China to inspect production and R&D capabilities on the spot to lay the foundation for subsequent cooperation.
What is more gratifying is that with the cancellation of tariff restrictions in Argentina, the improvement of the market environment has attracted the attention of a large number of new customers, and has also prompted old customers to accelerate the pace of cooperation. The business scope has gradually extended from microwave ovens to washing machines, refrigerators and other categories of products. A relevant person in charge of Galanz said that Central American countries including Ecuador also show strong growth potential. In the face of this market opportunity, the company’s foreign trade team will continue to promote deep cultivation and expansion, and further consolidate Galanz’s market position in Latin America through measures such as optimizing product structure, improving service quality, and strengthening brand communication.
Vanward Electric’s strategic deployment in the international market is also progressing steadily. In terms of capacity layout, Vanward has established overseas production bases in Thailand and Egypt. The first phase of the Thai factory has been put into mass production, and the second phase is about to be put into trial production; the Egyptian base was put into trial operation at the beginning of this year, and the first batch of products were successfully launched. These capacity layouts not only improve the response speed of overseas supply, but also enhance Vanward’s ability to cope with global competition.
In terms of market expansion, Vanward focuses on countries and regions along the “Belt and Road” such as Europe, Southeast Asia, and Africa, and strengthens its penetration into emerging markets. By sending overseas teams to build its own sales channels and after-sales service networks, Vanward continues to enhance the international influence of its own brands and has embarked on a rhythmic and quality global development path.
